York Lodge
Laugharne
A large detached 3 bedroom bungalow which boasts spectacular estuary views over the Township of Laugharne.
This beautifully refurbished bungalow which sleeps 6, has oak flooring throughout and sits on a hilltop in the historic town of Laugharne with stunning estuary views - you don't want to miss this view!
Enter into the spacious hallway where you can gain access to all the rooms the property has to offer. The first room to your left is the large reception with an oversized window with spectacular views of the estuary. The reception has a large Smart TV and DVD player, and a good selection of family games. There are french doors leading outside to the side patio area. The next room to your left off the hallway is the modern open plan kitchen diner which is well equipped, with electric range style oven, dishwasher and large fridge and also benefits from french doors to the side garden. There is a handy spacious utility room off the kitchen, which has access to the outside, perfect for muddy boots and paws after a busy day exploring. There is plenty of storage cupboards, a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Just off the hall way and to the right of the property you will find the large family bathroom which has a shower cubicle as well as a separate bath. There are three spacious bedrooms, all with ample storage. The master bedroom has a lovely en suite shower room for extra privacy, and benefits from a king size bed. There is a double bedroom and also a twin room.
The views from the garden are outstanding and the little summer house at the top of the garden is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the estuary and raise a glass of beer or wine to Dylan Thomas. Parking is on a slope right outside the bungalow, there is enough parking for 3 cars.
Laugharne is perhaps best known for its associations with Wales' most famous poet, Dylan Thomas, however, there is much more to Laugharne than just Dylan Thomas.
Laugharne is a small town sitting on the estuary of the Taf River and offers stunning estuary walks, including the infamous Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk. There are also plenty of woodland walks and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path starts nearby.
It is an ancient town steeped in history, and a popular tourist destination with many great attractions in the area. With its easy accessibility to the M4, and prime location, also makes it a great base to visit Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
The Boathouse, where Dylan and Caitlin lived with their children, is now a heritage centre. Overlooking the estuary are the dramatic ruins of a Norman Castle, a popular visitor attraction. Laugharne has a good choice of cafes and restaurants.
There are also a good choice of outdoor activities available in the area, ranging from horse riding, coasteering, to a variety of water sports, abseiling, orienteering, caving and gorge walking.
There are many beautiful rugged beaches in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, along with the more popular coastal resorts of Pendine, Saundersfoot and Tenby.
There is an abundance of interesting attractions locally, including Castles, historic houses and National Botanical Gardens to name a few.
For the younger generation we are a short drive away from the likes of Folly Farm, Oakwood, Manor House Wildlife Park, Heatherton World of Activities and Dinosaur Park to name a few.
If you are a "foodie" then there is a fantastic choice of restaurants within a 20 - 30 minute's drive ranging from Coast in Coppet Hall to Y Polyn, just 5 minutes from Carmarthen.

We stayed here for a week with our two kids (aged 1 & 3) and had a really great time - the place is modern and well finished, and in a great location for beach trips, exploring local towns or seeing various attractions for children (Dinosaur World was a favourite)! The hosts were also very attentive and helpful throughout. We’d highly recommend staying here!

A beautiful and stylish property. The rooms are spacious with good quality furniture. The window at the front is huge and provides a wonderful view over Laugharne. Good sized oven and hob as well as large fridge . Separate freezer on the utility with washing and drying facilities.
The property was sparkling clean and we appreciated the nice toiletries and welcome tea, coffee etc.
No hesitation in recommending - we all had a wonderful Easter stay.

Wow, what a wonderful view, we loved everything about this place. It’s location is so peaceful yet walkable into the village and easy to get to the Castle. We liked the modern, clean and clutter free style, with a well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. We only had a short 3 night break but would have loved to stay longer, thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Thank you for the gift of Welsh shortbread, a nice touch, but do note, there was only one dishwasher tab, one tea towel, no kitchen towel or foil and no basics like salt and pepper, so make sure you bring your own!

Really nice place, loads of space and warm. Views are unbelievable, and if you like star gazing the sky looks incredible on a clear night. Would happily return.

4 of us went to stay in Laugharne based on the view from the living room window! Te living room (with a big Smart TV that I could get my Netflix account up on) is lovely simply because of the view. The large kitchen and dining room area is lovely and interestingly where we stand up most nights playing al the games the hosts have kindly left in the hall cupboard. Perfect space. A large, quality table and very comfortable chairs made it a great place to sit and eat and chat. The utility room off that room is very useful and the brand new washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher would make a longer stay very easy.
The main bathroom is big with a bath and a nice powerful shower. The 2 smaller bedrooms are still plenty big enough with nice furniture and overlooking the same amazing estuary view as the picture window in the lounge. Oddly, the larger master bedroom has a large window that faces a small block wall and patch of grass with no views. The tiny washroom is functional if a tiny bit dated.
The other 2 slept well but I hardly got any sleep at all as the bed had such a hard mattress on a pine frame that my back hurt too much to sleep. It may well be only personal and objective but if I were to stay again I would have to bring a 6" memory foam topper to be able to sleep better. The bedding (pillows, duvet and sheets etc) was perfectly laundered but very poor quality. Many people might not know, or care, but if you are used to a high thread count and good hotel quality duvet/pillows, you will very much notice! In fact, just that one change would elevate this property to luxury. from good In may opinion).
Overall, it is a beautiful, well laid out bungalow which it would be hard not to appreciate. I would happily return but will cross my fingers that the owners will change the mattress/bedding. :)
Te views are outstanding and the little shed in the garden is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the estuary and raise a glass of something to Dylan Thomas. I was not a huge fan before visiting but now, having read his 'Poem in October' whilst on his 'birthday walk' (in glorious technicolour in October) was beyond beautiful.

A clean, bright and airy bungalow with great views and space that works well for families. Thoughtfully well equipped. Plenty of storage for all those waterproofs and walking boots. It's the last of 3 bungalows in a quiet country lane, very peaceful in the evenings. There's a cute little summer house at the top of the well kept garden from where you can see all the way to the Dylan Thomas Boathouse on the shore of the estuary. Great beaches nearby, especially picturesque Llansteffan. Awesome coasteering 45 mins away at Stackpole Quay with Morfa Bay Adventure. Laugharne itself is missing a good foodie pub, unfortunately Brown's Hotel and the Penderyn Restaurant are currently closed to the public. But go further afield and you can find great food at the Stackpole Inn, The Warren in Carmarthen and the Daffodil Inn near Llandysul.
