Brecon Beacons

With mountains and moorland, standing stones and castles, lively waterfalls and vibrant communities, the Brecon Beacons National Park has masses to offer visitors. From horse riding on the mountain bridal paths to gliding through the sky. The Brecon Beacons are full of adventurous walks to explore the country and to admire the beauty of Wales.

Llandeilo

The larger market town of Llandeilo approx. 15 mins drive, is well worth a visit, attractions such as Heavenly Ice Cream shop, Ginhaus Deli, The Cawdor Arms Hotel, and many more.

The National Trust Property of Newtown House, Dinefwr Park, and Dinefwr Castle are also located in Llandeilo.

There are several castles along the Tywi (Towy) valley, from Llansteffan at the estuary (also an amazing beach) to Carmarthen, Dryslwyn, Llandovery.

Llandovery

Stop and take time to visit this ancient Drovers' Town, and enjoy the small shops and cafes that share some of the spirit of the town, its people, and environs. Located on the River Tywi stands the remains of the Norman Llandovery Castle, built-in 1110.

Places of interest include the town's famous public school Llandovery College and the Old Printing Shop that was once one of Wales' most important printing centres. Also near at hand is the famous Llyn y Fan Fach with its legend of The Lady of the Lake and her magical cattle.

A little further away is the impressive Llyn Brianne reservoir, standing in the mountains above Rhandirmwyn, a beautiful valley that once throbbed to the beat of the lead mines in the area.

Carmarthen

The ancient town of Carmarthen “the oldest town in Wales” is home to many large retailers but has many local independent shops and an indoor market.

The town has a Roman Amphitheatre, castle, a museum in the old Bishop’s Palace, and several churches.

The Carmarthenshire museum is in the old Bishop’s Palace in Abergwili just north of Carmarthen on the main Llandeilo road and is worth a visit.

Swansea

Take a walk along the Mumbles and enjoy an award-winning ice cream at Joe’s or Verdi’s who also do good pizza.

The Marina and SA1 have a good selection of bars and restaurants and the sweep of Swansea bay is also good, with views across the Bristol Channel. The indoor market is considered the best in Wales, try the Welsh cakes, cockles, and laverbread.

Swansea is considered the gateway to the amazing Gower Peninsular (Gower never “The Gower”) with its many spectacular beaches and coves, as well as the award-winning Beach House Restaurant at Oxwich Bay. Gower has many good pubs and pretty walks.

West Wales

All parts of West Wales are accessible from the property - amazing beaches and country park at Cefn Sidan (Pembrey), 7 miles of sand at Pendine, Tenby an ancient walled town Saint Davids, with its mighty cathedral, Pembroke with its castle, Manobier, and of course the estuary town of Laugharne with its castle and links to Dylan Thomas and the famous Browns Hotel where you can enjoy a drink and a Dexters at Brown's farm to fork steak.

For thrill-seekers there is a Theme park at Oakwood.

What a fantastic place, we had a wonderful time here and would visit again. Place was warm and cosy and very clean upon arrival, with all that you could need if you hadn't had chance to pick up any food at the shops (coffee, tea, wine, milk & even soup). The house is beautifully styled and the log burning fires were perfect for the rainy, cold days of which we had a few. We had good response to our messages even over the Easter BH weekend, they did everything to ensure we had a good time.
Would highly recommend, thanks for a great stay!

One word - amazing. Is how I would describe this place. Peaceful and beautiful, this place is perfectly located to the west of the national park in the Black Mountains. Which is amazing for long walks great for the dog. The place itself is stunning, clean and well maintained.

Stayed at this property for a week - amazing location with lots to do and to see around. The description and pictures are accurate, I could even say reality exceeds expectations. You can find all you may need in the house - kitchen is well equipped, plenty of board games to play and movies you can watch if/when tired to explore outside.
Internet connection not the best, but this was a big plus - you can detox from all social media, news etc. - and you can enjoy yourself and have a great rest.
Communication with the host was great, they are very responsive, we sent some comments/suggestions to the host how to make this place even better.

Lovely setting, even though it mostly rained it was AMAZING!
The Cottage is incredible and I would love to go back in the Summer and make even more use of the outdoor space. The dogs absolutely loved it from arrival to departure. Spacious, clean, warm and delightful.

We had a very enjoyable and relaxed time at the cottage.
The place is full of character, clean, comfortable and cosy. Spacious and nicely furnished and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is super equipped with everything needed to feel home away from home.
The best feature of the house is its location. The house is in a remote location deep in the Welsh countryside with the most amazing sunsets. Wonderful for us who needed some tranquility and rest.
We will definitely come back for a longer stay.

A beautiful Cottage in a stunning location. Relaxing, comfortable and warm, especially on a stormy day. We loved it and loved the fact we could take our dogs- made our holiday feel like home
Lots of walks straight from the cottage door and incredible views from either a stomp up the hill or from the living room
Just ACE!

Such a comfortable and welcoming home in the most beautiful location. We felt right at home instantly and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local area. It is relatively remote, so you do need a car and some things take a little while to get to, but it's worth it for the amazing peace and beauty of the location. Also the cottage is so well equipped and we got a Morrisons delivery the day we arrived, so not that remote! We can't wait to come back.

Beautiful, tranquil location and fantastic views. Lovely welcome touches of fire wood and some local treats on arrival. Kitchen really well equipped and a number of books and games available. Would absolutely stay again.

A point of note if staying here with a dog, the garden fence is not secure so let them roam freely with caution - ours got out on a number of occasions.

Located among rolling fields, with free-roaming sheep and winding mountain roads, Wildhaven offers complete tranquility from everyday living - quiet nights save the sound of local wildlife: unpolluted night skies to gaze upon the stars; and plenty of hikes, trails, forests, and mountains to enjoy all no further than an hour’s drive away.

Coupled with its charming features and modern comforts, and superb, communicative hosts, it had everything we needed for a perfect trip away from it all.

(FYI stores and amenities are likely further away than you’ll be used to (especially during lockdown, nearest supermarket is about 25-30 min drive), and WiFi and phone signal really is intermittent and poor around Wildhaven. Come prepared for a digital detox!)

We had a great couple of days at Wildhaven. It was an ideal combination of remote, long walks from the door, quiet, yet an easy 20 minutes drive from a few villages with pubs and shops. The dogs loved it too! The house itself was fantastic, really great facilities and furniture. Everything was perfect!

The house is as lovely as the pictures, well equipped and extremely peaceful.
The weather wasn’t great the week we stayed but it didn’t matter! We had one clear night and the blanket of stars in the sky was magical. The WiFi was good and phone reception ok. We’d recommend staying!

This place is an absolute treasure. Very spacious, tastefully decorated and in the most beautiful setting. We loved that we could just walk out the door and could tramp around the Brecons. Our labrador loved the choice of two fireplaces and the garden is very dog friendly and secure. Do yourself a favour and have a bottle of bubbly on the hill watching the sunset go down - just magical.

We loved how isolated the property was - but it is best to come prepared for for your trip. Whilst the kitchen is well kitted out with crockery, kitchenware etc - no basics such as oil, sugar etc are provided (?due to COVID) and we got caught out on the first night. However, all in all a wonderful weekend away.

An absolutely stunning farm house in a magical setting. Myself and my partner have stressful jobs, and live near Manchester, so to come here for absolute peace and tranquility was well needed, and couldn’t be faulted.

The farm house is kept to a high standard, with everything you needed within. Check in was easy, and we were contacted to ensure we knew who to turn to should we need any help.

The location is right on the Black Mountain, and weather conditions naturally can make the property a bit difficult to navigate to and from, however the road isn’t too bad, but we were glad for our 4x4!

The views and remoteness you get for this however are well worth it!

We will 100% be staying here again, and look forward to our next trip here. We already miss it terribly x

Absolutely beautiful property in a breathe taking location. A real 'off the grid' feel without feeling like you are completely isolated. Incredible walks on the door step and a lovely cosy but very private property. The wood burners were a real highlight. Great proactive and very responsive communication from the host. We felt right at home and enjoyed the thoughtful touches and masses of local information provided. We will definitely be returning (asap I hope)!

We had the best stay at Wildhaven. It is totally private with a great enclosed garden. The walks from the doorstep were stunning, you could spend a week there and not have to go out in the car! We loved seeing the sheep on the hills, as well as the birds of prey and hares. The cottage is incredibly comfortable and clean, we really didn’t want to leave! It’s a great place to stay whether you’re alone, a couple, a family or with your dog. Thank you for a very relaxing holiday!

Lovely farmhouse located in wonderful and peaceful location in the Brecon Beacons. Great surroundings and view. It has a nice big garden that is good to relax in and watch the sun set on an evening. It is very quiet and peaceful that is perfect to get away from it all.
Very comfortable furniture to relax in. Nice and functional kitchen with great electric cooker that is easy to use and gets the job done.
Had a few house spiders inside but that is to be expected with the location in the countryside and they were easily removed and put back into nature.

Overall, really nice stay and would go back and stay again.

The whole place was very clean. It is very remote. Only a few cars drive by during the day. Ideal spot for local walking. Had a great time at the local castle. The lawn was cut a few days into our stay which made enjoying the garden easier. Would definitely stay here again.

Wildhaven is a wonderful place to pause and reset. This was our second stay, and hopefully not our last! It really feels like it's in the heart of the Beacons National Park with nothing around by sheep, beautiful scenery, and wild horses. I can't recommend it enough.
