Meidrim

Maes-y-Mêl, which translates to ‘The Honey Field’, is a fantastic couples retreat in a rural location close to all that Carmarthenshire has to offer with its countryside walks from the door.

  • Accepts one or two small well behaved dogs - charges apply
  • On-site parking for one vehicle
  • Patio and shared gardens with far reaching rural views

This modern semi-detached conversion, has been lovingly renovated for couples to enjoy a relaxing holiday, just a short drive from the Carmarthenshire coast. It has plenty of space, with a lovely calming ambience.

Enter into the hallway, with the modern open plan kitchen to your left, which has ample amenities for your stay, including a full-size fridge freezer, an oven and 4 ring electric hob, dishwasher, microwave oven and washing machine. The dining area has beautiful garden views where you can look out to the fields beyond. St Clears is the nearest town, with a good choice of coffee shops, a handful of pubs and restaurants. It is perfectly located to explore Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

Laugharne is a 5 minute drive, and is perhaps best known for its associations with Wales' most famous poet, Dylan Thomas. Laugharne is a small town sitting on the estuary of the Taf River and offers stunning estuary walks, including the infamous Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk. The Boathouse, where Dylan and Caitlin lived with their children, is now a heritage centre. Overlooking the estuary are the dramatic ruins of a Norman Castle, a popular visitor attraction. Laugharne has a good choice of cafes and restaurants. There are also plenty of woodland walks and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path starts nearby.

There are also a good choice of outdoor activities available in the area, ranging from horse riding, coasteering, to a variety of water sports, abseiling, orienteering, caving and gorge walking.

There are many beautiful rugged beaches in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, along with the more popular coastal resorts of Pendine, Saundersfoot and Tenby.

There is an abundance of interesting attractions locally, including Castles, historic houses and National Botanical Gardens to name a few.

If you are a "foodie" then there is a fantastic choice of restaurants within a 20 - 30 minute's drive ranging from Coast in Coppet Hall to Y Polyn, just 5 minutes from Carmarthen.

A lovely and cosy air bnb, we loved every second of our stay there. The bed was very comfortable, the record player was a great touch, the bathroom and kitchen had everything that we need and more, and the fire place set a lovely mood for the evening. Overall an amazing stay, would definitely recommend and we’d definitely stay here again.

Very nice and remote house in Carmarthenshire.

Location allows trips to Pembrokshire / Brecon Beacons / Gower in around ~1h one-way - we found it very convenient.
Interior is to very high standard, farm environment is marvellous. The place is great value for money indeed!
Support team of Great Welsh Escapes is lovely, they ensured we've found ourselves everything that we needed & communicated timely.

Would love to come back again one day!

Our hosts Buddig and Lloyd were welcoming, friendly, offering the very best of Welsh rural hospitality. Diolch yn fawr! A generous welcome pack with home made barabrith and their own honey, milk, tea, coffee etc was really appreciated. The location is quiet and beautiful with stunning views. The accommodation is comfortable, spacious and decorated in a 60s/70s theme. We loved the record player!

This was a beautiful home provided by lovely owners. It was clean, bright and there were delightful personal touches like wee chocolates for the kids, fresh eggs and honey plus a high hair and beds for the wee ones, complete with cuddly toys (which wasn’t expected!) I’d definitely stay there again. The owners had a cute doggie that was pals with our dog too. We were all sad to leave. Highly recommend the peaceful country stay.

Maes Y Mêl was absolutely beautiful - the property was spotless, it was a very cosy feel and the decor was amazing! I stayed for 8 days and did not want to leave as it was so homely inside! The views from around the property are breath taking! Both hosts living next to the property were lovely and very accommodating! I was left with some homemade honey from on the farm and some eggs from the chickens! Both delicious 10/10 all round!
