Beaches & Walks
Perfect Moments, Lasting Memories
West Wales is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and coastal scenery in the UK
West Wales is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and coastal scenery in the UK. In Pembrokeshire, favourites like Barafundle Bay, Freshwater West, and the three beaches of Tenby offer everything from sheltered family spots to dramatic surfing locations. Broadhaven South provides sweeping sands and dunes, while Whitesands near St Davids is known for its clear water and great waves. Further north in Cardigan Bay, small coves such as Mwnt, Llangrannog, and Aberporth are perfect for wildlife watching, swimming, and relaxed days by the sea. Alongside its beaches, West Wales also offers outstanding walking. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path stretches 186 miles and includes stunning sections such as Stackpole to Barafundle, Solva to St Davids, and the route from Porthgain to the Blue Lagoon at Abereiddy. Inland, the Preseli Hills give wide open views and ancient history, while circular routes around the St Davids Peninsula showcase rugged cliffs and heritage sites. Gentle alternatives include the scenic loop around Dinas Head and the peaceful lakeside paths of Bosherston Lily Ponds, which lead directly out to the coast.
To the east, Carmarthenshire adds even more variety, with the vast golden stretch of Pendine Sands, the peaceful beach at Amroth on the border, and the sweeping coastline of Pembrey Country Park and Cefn Sidan, known for its wide, soft sands and forest-backed dunes. Carmarthenshire also features scenic walks, including routes through Pembrey Forest, the Millennium Coastal Path with its panoramic estuary views, and hill walks above Laugharne and Llansteffan Castle. This blend of beaches and walks across Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, and Carmarthenshire makes West Wales ideal for both relaxation and adventure.
