Burry Port Lighthouse
Burry Port
The harbour at Burry Port was developed in the 1830s to replace the now disused Pembrey Harbour pier and lighthouse 800 m to the west. It was used to export coal from the nearby valleys. In the early 1990s the lighthouse was dilapidated and at risk of demolition, but a local campaign led to it being refurbished and relit. The roundabout on the approach to the harbour has as a centrepiece a miniature reproduction of this lighthouse, built in 2016.
