Y Bwthyn
St Clears
Y Bwthyn is a beautifully designed bohemian bolthole centrally located, offers all the romance and luxury of a boutique hotel, but with the space and privacy of your home.
This lovely cottage is newly converted in 2021 with a unique style and relaxing ambience, and more than caters for a variety of holiday needs.
Enter into the welcoming open plan living room, with a warm and cosy colour scheme, it is the perfect place to chill out and watch a film on the Smart TV. The well equipped industrial style kitchen was newly fitted during refurbishment, with ample dining space. You will find everything you need, including a fresh coffee machine. Open the French doors on warmer days, and let the glorious Summer Sun flow into the cottage.
Upstairs there is a large King characterful bedroom, which is spacious and has a seating area to relax with a book. There are plenty of interesting features with quirky upcycled furniture and stunning textiles. You will be guaranteed a good night sleep with the beautiful 100% linen bedding. There is a further double bedroom with ample storage and colourful decor. Please note - there are low level windows on the first floor making it not suitable for young children - our guidance is that it is suitable for children over 10 years old.
The beautiful rustic bathroom is located on the ground floor, and has a traditional roll top bath and separate modern walk in shower. There is a wall mounted shavers socket.
There is a pretty courtyard garden, neighbouring the main houses' garden, to dine al fresco or sit and soak up the Summer sun. There is one parking space for guests use.
St Clears is a charming town with a good choice of coffee shops, a handful of pubs and restaurants.
It is a small town perfectly located to explore Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. It is 4 miles to Laugharne and 9 miles to Carmarthen.
Laugharne is a small town sitting on the estuary of the Taf River and offers stunning estuary walks, including the infamous Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk. There are also plenty of woodland walks and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path starts nearby and there is easy access to the Brecon Beacons.
Carmarthen, Wales oldest town, is a market town with a large variety of independent shops and plenty of lovely eateries. One of Carmarthen’s most famous early residents was Merlin the Magician. The Welsh name for the town, “Caerfyrddin”, means Merlin’s Fort and many believe the town was named after King Arthurs wizard.
There are also a good choice of outdoor activities available in the area, ranging from horse riding, coasteering, to a variety of water sports, abseiling, orienteering, caving and gorge walking.
There are many beautiful rugged beaches in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, along with the more popular coastal resorts of Pendine, Saundersfoot and Tenby.
There is an abundance of interesting attractions locally, including Castles, historic houses and National Botanical Gardens to name a few.
If you are a "foodie" then there is a fantastic choice of restaurants within a 20 - 30 minute's drive ranging from Coast in Coppet Hall to Y Polyn, just 5 minutes from Carmarthen.

Fantastic getaway in St. Clears, Carmarthenshire!
I highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking to escape the city and have access to the entire peninsula and a whole handful of beautiful beaches. It provided a clean, cosy refuge from which to visit some of the most beautiful parts of Wales!

An eclectic mix of styles which were assembled with great aplomb. The quality of renovation showed that great care and consideration had been taken in order to achieve an unique style. Hearing the sparrows chirping outside first thing in the morning was a wonderful way to wake up. Even hearing the trains travelling along the nearby mainline did nothing to disturb the tranquillity of this secret corner of Carmarthenshire. A long weekend was not enough and a return visit is hopeful.
Nothing!

It was a very nice stay. The guest house is very lovely and comfortable, so we had a good time even when it rained. Jessica and Nile are great hosts and have a special talent for decorating. By car its a quick drive to stunning beaches and hiking trails. We highly recommend Great Welsh Escapes!

We spent ten days in this beautiful cottage and had a wonderful time. It is very spacious, especially the principal bedroom and bathroom. The decor is very pleasing and tasteful, while the kitchen is modern and equipped. We used the oven, hob, washing machine and dishwasher, and all appliances worked perfectly. There is a Co-op just down the street, and there are a few nice takeaways within town.
The cottage is centrally located to cover both Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, and it is very convenient to do day trips to Tenby, Marloes Sands, St. Davids, Brecon Beacons and a dozen small beaches and castles -- the closest of which, Laugharne, is hardly a 12 minute drive away.
All in all, I can very strongly recommend staying here to explore known and unknown parts of the beautiful South Wales. And yes, Melanie and Neil are both wonderful hosts!

This property that we stayed in was fantastic. We could see that Mel and Neil put their heart and sole into making it perfect. It is so cosy and unique, easily the most beautiful accommodation that we have stayed in so far.
Our stay was made so much nicer by our communication with Mel and Neil, they gave us fantastic recommendations of restaurants and places to visit. A lovely couple, a pleasure to have met them and stayed in their gorgeous cottage.

The cottage is charming, comfortable and well equipped. The hosts welcoming and helpful.
The area is quiet, not much in the town but there are convenience stores for essentials.
The landscape, beaches, gardens and profusion of castles make it a beautiful and interesting location for a break.

Whilst St Clears might not be the most picturesque of Welsh small towns, it is a great central location for seeing around about and the cottage is amazing; an absolutely lovingly created holiday home.

This beautiful old storehouse has been lovingly and artistically restored with wonderful attention given to keeping its historical integrity. It was even better than the pictures showed. Comfortable, warm and clean with everything we needed. Whilst the internet was a bit slow at times this gave the perfect opportunity for reading and playing board games. The local Co-Op supermarket was just a few minutes walk away, and the chips from the local Georges Fish and Chips shop plentiful and very good.
Melanie and Neil were so welcoming and we appreciated the chats as well as the welcome basket inside. We thank them both.
There is not a lot to do in St Clears but it was the perfect base for exploring the coast and mountains in South Wales.

We loved the cottage and the warm welcome. The cottage is so well appointed, with large rooms and modern equipment designed into a characterful style. The best thing we can say is that we would love to come back soon.
Parking is a little tight, but was adequate for our small car. That is really the only criticism. We are not critical guests anyway, but our hosts made us feel like we were their special guests. Highly recommended.
